oracle / arcsde login using windows authentication...

You can configure ArcSDE Direct Connect to read Windows login. When we add the login parameters in ArcCatalog, we just need to specify the tnsnames.ora name for the Service params.

I always thought this was an option in SQL Server and by default this works in ArcGIS 9.2 release.

Firstly, you need to add the Windows user into Oracle DB. Then you need to configure the tnsnames.ora in the remote Oracle Client workstation.

Voila... you can make connection now. This seems an easier option because users don't really need another Oracle pwd to remember and everything is tied to the Windows domain login.

I heard about some security issues doing this but am not sure if there is any recorded hack. Cheers.
