rain... rain... go away...come again another day!!!

Hey there... been kinda busy with some project work. Long time no news eh...

Anyway, the extreme weather pattern these days is really getting out of hand. There were a few close calls when lightning struck a few meters away from me.. so close I could feel the bright impact. One time it hit a lamp post in front of me in Kelana Jaya... and another time it hit a traffic light behind me in Rawang. We are also getting rain that is so strong and dangerous. We never experienced so much bad weather... and 2006 tops it.

I think... Malaysia and this region is really changing its weather pattern... temperatures seem to rise so high… piercing ur eyes and skin. Try walking in the sun these days... especially in the afternoons... u might get roasted!!!

Global warming is a serious issue... and its here… hitting us hard. It is affecting all our lives...

Brazil squad... no surprises

Well... its getting closer... and closer. All the major leagues are ending. Its time for players and fans to take a breather... and in a few months... WORLD CUP!!!!

The Brazil squad:

Goalkeepers: Dida (AC Milan), Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Rogerio Ceni (Sao Paulo)

Defenders: Cafu (AC Milan), Cicinho (Real Madrid), Lucio (Bayern Munich), Juan (Bayer Leverkusen), Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid), Gilberto (Hertha Berlin), Cris (Olympique Lyon), Luisao (Benfica)

Midfielders: Edmilson (Barcelona), Juninho Pernambucano (Olympique Lyon), Emerson (Juventus), Ze Roberto (Bayern Munich), Gilberto Silva (Arsenal), Kaka (AC Milan), Ricardinho (Corinthians)

Forwards: Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Robinho (Real Madrid), Ronaldinho (Barcelona), Adriano (Inter Milan), Fred (Olympique Lyon).

I would say that Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Gilberto and Ronaldo... not really fit into this team. They are just hype. There are much better players in Brazil and Europe that deserves a chance. This World Cup ... u will surely see Ronaldinho, Kaka, Adriano and Luisao shine better.

Of course... my first choice to win the Cup will always be with... France !!!

FA Cup Winners 2006... LIVERPOOL

You know... it really feels awesome the be a Liverpool fan these days. When I was a kid... watching Barnes, Dalgish and Rush playing... always lifted my spirits. Then came the slump... all those combinations, bad buys and missed chances... we became second to MU and Arsenal. No more... no more. We can be proud of winning the Champions League and having the best history in English football, no one comes close.

Also.. we may not have the money... nor the big names... but we sure have great footballing spirit. Thats what football is all about... we walk into a field... be it a small padang behind our house... or the Cardiff stadium... the footballing Gods are watching. We don't have childish squabbles like other clubs... or fanatic fans ... but we sure have honour and integrity.

Now... we have a great legend in our midst... Stevie G... what else can I say!!! He walks awkwardly... but with that kinda skill and determination... he is nothing but Captain Fantastic.

Map Malaysia 2006 conference....

Hi there, today was my duty (ok lah... I dun really like conferences) to assist at the ESRI South Asia booth (Palace of Golden Horses). Its tiring... to stand and answer questions... but at the same time its fun to meet old buddies and make new friends. Also I manage to find out ... this blog has a few ardent followers, like real only ;-)

I think this is the first Map Malaysia conference... its like the subset of Map Asia conferences... organised by GIS Development. Actually today we saw a lot of support from the government departments... mainly JUPEM, MACRES and MacGDI.

Anyway, besides the ESRI booth (and re-runs of Jane Goodall's speech from the last ESRI User Conference, of course)... a few others caught my attention... mainly:
  • Astronautic Technology (M) Sdn. Bhd. - a few of their current (very interesting) projects are RazakSAT (Malaysian remote sensing satellite) and the Tsunami early warning system
  • Cilix Corporation - they are currently protoyping an aerial imaging system (hardware and software) with MACRES together with some Chinese expertise.
  • USC Solutions - Their Vidar 3D model builder is really something. You can practically build 3D models and shapes from any 3D support format - i.e. VRML etc Imagine having to build real life models for cities, slopes, terrains, rivers or even seabed mapping instantly.
Check it out.
